The Architectural Skin with Lobna Sana and Migrants Organise

A series of weaving workshops, hosted by All Ears

As part of All Ears’ inaugural public program, we hosted a 3 month long weaving workshop, led by our 2025/6 studio resident, Lobna Sana. For this series, we partnered with Migrants Organise: a platform who organises for the power, dignity and justice of those seeking asylum in the UK.

Participants brought their own weaving histories (largely from Sudan and Ethiopia), and the result was a collection of sensitive and layered frame woven textiles. During the time together, we learnt one another’s histories, shared our personal journeys to London, and ate food by the wonderful Gafar. Weaving became a way to connect beyond the pleasantries and into lasting friendships.

QUOTE
— PARTICIPANT

“Overall, the workshops felt deeply positive and generated a strong level of interest. I realised that the craft itself may matter less than the kind of space it creates for people: a space to slow down, sit together, share stories or simply listen, while keeping the hands moving.”

Lobna Sana, Bedouin Architect ——— All Ears Resident 2025/6

“Weaving creates a healthy form of distraction or disguise — a way of being with others intimately without the pressure of direct conversation or urgency. There is something deeply social, calming, and restorative in that condition.”

Lobna Sana, Bedouin Architect ——— All Ears Resident 2025/6

Our public program

All Ears wants to connect you back to yourself as an artist. We believe that making has a unique power to forge community, and our space seeks to facilitate that.

In our artist studio, we run a series of workshops and events that aim to reach a wide audience of makers, both professional and novice. We seek to create an environment in which experimentation is fun and mistakes are encouraged.
